About us

At Stand Out Training, we're not just a gym

We believe training should be about more than simply working out. It should give you something to learn, something to work towards and the freedom to keep exploring what movement can be.

StandOut grew from two things that have always been important to Sam: the joy of play and the craft of gymnastics.

With a background in gymnastics and years of experience as a CrossFit coach, Sam saw gymnastics become an important part of functional training — but often without the time and attention needed to truly learn it. Skills became part of the workout, while the technique, practice and progression behind them could easily get lost.

That sparked the idea behind StandOut: to create a place where gymnastics skills could be properly taught and practiced, while keeping the strength, energy and versatility of functional training.

Why do we stop playing when we grow up?

As kids, we climb, jump, balance, hang upside down and try things simply because we’re curious to see what happens. We fall, get back up and try again. Somewhere along the way, movement often becomes something we have to do rather than something we want to explore.

At StandOut, we take training seriously without taking that curiosity away.

A handstand takes practice. Strength takes consistency. New skills take patience, good coaching and sometimes a lot of failed attempts. But that process is exactly what makes learning something new so rewarding.

And nobody has to arrive already knowing how to do it.

Some of our members have years of gymnastics or CrossFit experience; others walk through the door having never been upside down before.

DIFFERENT PEOLPE. SAME ENERGY.

Today, StandOut brings together adults, kids and families from different countries, ages and sporting backgrounds. Everyone works at their own level and towards their own goals, while sharing a training floor with people who understand both the challenge and the excitement of learning something new.

For kids, we want to protect that natural curiosity and confidence to try.

For adults, we want to give it back.

Because what starts with climbing, balancing, jumping, hanging, trying, failing and trying again becomes something bigger: confidence, resilience and the belief that there is always something new you can learn.

That is StandOut.
